The Pontian community founded two brotherhoods, Protoxeniteas and Panagia Soumela which were separated in c. 1969, but they have been collaborating closely the last decade.
Protoxenitas was part of the group that founded the Greek Festival of Sydney. Protoxeniteas was and still is to today (2023) a strong Greek brotherhood, and they have their own established space (club) in Earwood, NSW.
Protoxenitas has also οrganized theatrical plays in the Pontic dialect, dancing groups, and during the Christmas period the kids sing the "kalanta" (Greek Christmas instrumental songs accompanied with the triangle musical instrument and in this case with the Pontic lyra) in the Pontic dialect and sell Pontic diaries. Kids are dressed in traditional Pontic costumes).
The Hellenic Historic and Cultural Centre holds extensive material on the Protoxeniteas of Sydney, including brochures, cards, newspapers, photographs, tickets, and correspondence between the brotherhood and members
