Pieter Nuyts (1598-1653) was a Dutch merchant and official of the Dutch East India Company. In 1627 his ship the Gulden Seepaert reached land in Southwest Australia, which was named 't Land van Pieter Nuyts in his honour.
This undated petition in Dutch is addressed to Ant[oni]o van Diemen, and requests that the writer be returned to his country (the Netherlands) after having been found innocent by the (East India) Company in a matter concerning his arrest by the Japanese, and claiming that no further proceedings could be conducted against him.
