15 cm. This collection incorporates (I) family correspondence, in German, and mostly postcards, dating from the 1870s-80s; (II) correspondence, photographs, and legal documents (again in German), connected with Friedrich von Ploennies' years as Imperial German Consul in Brisbane; and (III) Franz von Ploennies' papers relating to the Brisbane Goethe Bund. The last mentioned papers comprise correspondence (1927-1952), minutes, a copy of the Bund constitution, a list of members (1927), typescripts of plays by Dora Wilcox and Johaan Deutsch, and manuscripts of poems by Walter Stolting and Jean J. Laidlaw. Also includes a 250 page handwritten memoir by German journalist Walter Stolting, who was interned as an enemy alien in Australia during World War II.
