Vic Facchini was 16 when he and his mother, Angelina, with his younger brother Livio, arrived in Sydney from Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige in 1934. As an enemy alien during World War II, he was recruited for charcoal production on the North Coast of NSW. He corresponded with Silvio Pegoretti, a former schoolmate and Italian POW near West Wyalong, NSW.
