A legal document describing the pearling and fishery laws of Australia in Japanese, with numerous examples of various applications and relevant legislation from the period 1881-1931. Shows an interesting record of early Japanese labour in Australia, showing that pearling and beche-de-mer industries supported the Japanese immigrants at the time were thriving. Holothuria atra, commonly known as sea cucumbers (traded as beche-de-mer), has a long history as a functional food and tonic in Asia. Holothuria atra is found in the tropical Indo-Pacific region, its range extending from the Red Sea and East Africa to Australia.
