Grey air mail envelope made from thin tissue-paper like material. It has many inscriptions, censor's stickers and ink stamps. Torn in places.
Envelope sent from Modling, Vienna, Austria on 3 June 1941, addressed to Kurt Baier, at Tatura Internment Camp in northern Victoria.
On front of envelope, handwritten in black ink:' KURT BAIER / HUT NO 26 COUMPOND [sic] 2 / CAMP NO 7 / EASTERN COMMAND/ AUSTRALIA'. Stamped in purple ink: 'INTERNMENT CAMP / TATURA, VIC.'.Lower left corner , handwritten in black ink : ' New York'. On front and back, off-white stickers printed in red '3 Opened by Censor'. On back, 2 pink & 2 grey ink stamps of theThird Reich with swastika and eagle symbols. Handwritten in brown ink ' [illeg.] / Aufgeber: Gottfied Crala'.
