Abstract 
Australia at war – Interview with Mr B.F. Hunt “The Dutch East Indies is an outpost of Australian defence”. The article reports on the impressions of Hunt, head of the firm Gijselman & Steup in Surabaya, who has spent the past four months in Australia. Mr Hunt reports that Australia has entered a period of prosperity as a result of war activity and that the steel and construction industries are strong. He also reports on the beer strike, trade between Australia and the Indies, and the problems of drought and water shortages.
