De “Daily Chronicle’ verneemt uit Melbourne: De Bondsregeering heeft een omvangrijke samenspanning ontdekt, ten doel hebbende tal van Chineezen, in strijd met de wetgeving tot wering van Aziaten, heimelijk Australië binnen te smokkelen. Sommige agenten in China en verschillende blanken in Australië moeten erbij betrokken zijn. De laatsten zouden er, als het gelukt ware, grove winsten bij opgestoken hebben.

The Daily Chronicle reports from Melbourne: The Federal Government has uncovered a massive conspiracy aimed at secretly smuggling numerous Chinese into Australia in violation of anti-Asian legislation. Some police officers in China and several whites in Australia must be involved. The latter, if successful, would have reaped enormous profits.
The government has ordered all ships arriving from East Asia to be closely scrutinised. Deakin has more widely appealed to the Hong Kong government to support him in keeping Asians out.
