Short description
Con Stamatiades (1906-1991) was a Maths and Physics teacher in Greece. He came to Australia in 1954 with his wife and two daughters. He worked for the Water Board from 1955 to 1967. He was Vice President of the Greek Community and the Greek RSL NSW Sub-Branch, and founder of Omospondia, Federation of Greek Orthodox Communities of Australia, an organisation to unite all Greeks in Australia. He also founded the Greek Artists and Poets Society. He was involved in the creation of 25 Greek schools in Sydney. Con was a general representative of Krikos (an English magazine), and he wrote news from the Greek community every month. Con was alsο a J.P. Con Stamatiades designed the cover of the magazine the Grecian Ball 1960 (presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW).

Con was a great poet, writer, and artist.
