Themis was born in Darwin on March 9, 1972. She is the granddaughter of Aleksandros Alexiou, the founder of the Kalymnian Brotherhood in Darwin, and the daughter of Irini Alexiou-Maggoulias and Nikitas Magoulias.

Themis made history as the first female president of the Kalymnian Brotherhood, assuming this role in 2022. She was elected through community elections in Darwin.

Despite being born and raised in Darwin, Themis has spent a total of 15 years living in Greece, including time in Kos, Rhodes, and Kalymnos. She is fluent in both English and Greek.
